Troubleshooting Notification Failures

IWSVA can send automatic email notification for virus and other events, as well as event statuses such as pattern updates.

If you have configured notifications but are not receiving them, check the settings specified on the Email Settings page.

• Is the specified email server SMTP or ESMTP? If the latter, be sure to enable the EHLO option at the bottom of the screen.

• Open a command prompt and Telnet session to check that the email server and port specified are correct.

• Check the number specified of Number of minutes to check mail queue. A typical polling interval is 1 minute.

• Check whether there are notifications pending in the following directory:

/etc/iscan/Mailq

• Confirm in the Summary page that scanning is enabled.

• Confirm the check box is checked for the "Send a message when xxx" option on the specific notification events settings page.
