You can have IWSVA automatically notify the administrator and/or requesting client for the event as discussed in this section. Admin notifications are sent via email or SNMP traps. Client notifications typically appear as a message in their browser or FTP client. All notifications are fully customizable.
Notifications can be issued in response to scanning, blocking, alerting, and program update events. There are two types of notifications—administrator notifications and user notifications. Notifications can be configured in Notifications on the main menu, described as follows:
Administrator notifications provide information about Applets and ActiveX Security, C&C Callback Attempt Detection, Data Loss Prevention, FTP Data Loss Prevention, FTP Blocked File Types, FTP Scanning, HTTP/HTTPS Blocked File Types, HTTP/HTTPS Scanning, Smart Scan Event, and High Availability events, as well as pattern file and scan engine updates. IWSVA sends administrator notifications through email to addresses that you configure in the Email Settings screen.
User notifications provide information about Applets and ActiveX Security, C&C Callback Attempt Detection, Data Loss Prevention, FTP Data Loss Prevention, FTP Blocked File Types, FTP Scanning, HTTP/HTTPS Blocked File Types, HTTP/HTTPS Scanning, HTTPS Access Denied, HTTPS Certificate Failure, HTTP/HTTPS Access Denied by Application Control, URL Access Warning, URL Access Override, URL Blocking by Access Control, URL Blocking by HTTP Inspection, URL Blocking by URL Filtering, and URL Filtering by Time Quota. IWSVA presents user notifications in the client’s browser or FTP client in lieu of the prohibited Web page or file that the client is trying to view or download.
The messages presented in both the administrator and user notifications are configurable and can include “tokens” or variables to customize notification messages with information about the event. In addition, user notification messages support HTML tags to customize the appearance of the message and provide links to other resources, such as security policy documents hosted on your intranet.
As with IPv4, all tokens can be applied to IPv6 access.
